WIM HOF* IS IN TOWN.
WE GOT INSPIRED TO SEND IT WITH SOME ZEN THIS SUNDAY.

*Wim Hof is a badass human who’s shown the world what normal humans can do through meditation, deep breathing, and challenging their bodies to adapt to the environment (cold exposure is his main jam). He also holds something like 26 world records.

THE GIST

Golden humans. Sunrise burning up and over the Downtown skyline. Meditation, Wim Hof style deep breathing + ocean swim. Show up tired. Leave feeling awesome.

THE PLAN

We meditate while it’s coming up. Then rock some Wim Hof Style Breathing (you feel unreal after - AND you’re more capable of handling cold temperatures). Perfect.. because the next step is hitting the water together.

We get in together, keep the breathing going together, your nervous system calms down after about a min. or two, and we all watch the sun rise over downtown together from the ocean.

Get out, warm up, eat snacks, rap with great humans or chill in your own moment.

Show up at Jericho beach for 7:15AM, swim suit, towel, hot drinks, incense if you’re down like that, snacks or homemade avocado toast, some warm backup threads to change into and some general stoke for life.

THE GROUND RULES

  1. THIS IS GOOD HUMANS COMING TOGETHER TO DO COOL THINGS. BE THE GOOD HUMAN THAT YOU ARE.

  2. GOOD HUMANS ARE BOTH INTROVERTS AND EXTROVERTS. GIVE AND TAKE SPACE IF IT’S NEEDED. OR WELCOME POEPLE IN / STEP IN IF YOU FEEL IT. SEE RULE NUMBER ONE FOR CONFIRMATION THAT IT’S ALL GOOD.

  3. CARE FOR AND RESPECT THE SPACE - LEAVE IT BETTER THAN WE FOUND IT. KEEP NOISE LOW FOR THE NEIGHBOURS, LEAVE THE BEACH CLEANER AND BETTER OFF THAT WE FOUND IT.

  4. SAFETY FIRST. KNOWING YOUR LIMITS IS COOL. IF THEY ARE BS, TRY TO PUSH PAST THEM. YOUR JOB IS TO FIND THE DIFFERENCE, AND TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. FROM THERE IT’S ALL OF OUR JOB TO LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER.

THE DEATS

What: Sunrise Meditation and Cold A** Swim.

When/Where: Sunday, Oct 21 7:15 AM. Jericho Beach, right in the middle of it. Look for the other crazy people. And park at or around the East Parking Lot - make sure to pay for parking if you need to.

This is a quick mission to kick the day off right, feel free to stay until whenever you want.

Who: You, your friends, your mom, some of the CS community, even dogs (if they are reasonably zen ).

What To Bring: your rad self, some courage, swim suit and towel, hot coffee and snacks or breakfast, a beach blanket, warm threads to change into, (and a towel/swim gear if you want to ocean jump with us).

Difficulty Level: I (but feels like a II ❄️)

The Flow:
7-715 AM
– Find us in the middle of Jericho beach, soak in the sun with us.
730 AM Sharp – Meditation starts. (Be early - 7AM for sunrise is luxury!)
740 AM - Sunrise. (If it shows up)
745 AM
– Meditation ends. A few minutes of Wim Hof style breathing x ocean swim.
800 AM - Stay and hang, go for breakfast with people, or start the day. You do you.
